2011 Partners in Transformation
This report is based on the processes and the outcomes of the second part of Phase four of Partners in Transformation workshops in 2011 as conducted in Big 5 False Bay, Hluhluwe.
2010 Partners in Transformation
For the period 2010 – 2011, DDP has expanded the focus into giving more attention to those areas that are of discomfort to the many but that also need to be urgently addressed. One such focus area is the capacitation of tribal councils to fully or meaningfully engage in municipal processes.

2009 Partners in Transformation
Based on experience of the workshops we offer and some we have been exposed to, we felt that there was a need for a rethink on the approaches used to reach people with truly developmental results. The feeling was that as much as the conventional way of doing workshops if carefully packaged and applied can yield good results, there is however a feeling that people are experiencing workshop fatigue and with no results to show. DDP’s idea was to employ more of the Action Learning or participatory strategies to cover the diverse range of communities as effectively as we possibly can, in the process rope in officials or bureaucrats without trivializing the process. As evidenced in the pictures that follow, most sessions were hilarious, allowing individualism while delineating hierarchies and powers. Most notable was the ability for each individual to draw own lessons and take with the value they found worth keeping in a non threatening way.
History and Introduction to Partners in Transformation
In 2002 the DDP together with several other leading NGO’s in the Province initiated a programme for local government practitioners across all municipalities. Since this time the DDP has been engaged with these issues at a number of different levels but felt that there was a need for a more holistic approach. The DDP has worked on the second edition of the training manual, Partners in Transformation which formed the basis of interventions with selected municipalities.
Ward Committee Programme in 2005
In 2005, DDP has facilitated 38 workshops in 12 local municipalities. This was followed by an intensive 4-day evaluation workshop of the programme. To find out more please download our report.
